Nuova superband con membri del Wu-Tang Clan e System of a Down

Il fondatore dei Wu-Tang-Clan RZA, il bassista dei System of a Down Shavo Oddjian, Kinetic 9 dei Killarmy e il rapper Reverend William Burke hanno unito le loro forze in un nuovo gruppo: Achozen.

Il disco frutto del lavoro di quest'ibrido rap-rock è stato appena completato. L'album sarà in vendita la prossima estate e contiene collaborazioni con personaggi illustrissimi: John Frusciante dei Red Hot Chili Peppers, George Clinton, GZA del Wu-Tang Clan e l'MC Sick Jacken dei Psycho Realm.
RZA ci racconta qualche particolare sul progetto: "Shavo è mio vicino di casa. E' venuto spesso a trovarmi in studio. Ci siamo accorti di avere molto in comune, nonostante il nostro differente background. Così ci siamo messi a lavorare insieme per gli ultimi due anni. Achozen è un progetto 'heavy hip hop' e tocca argomenti politici scottanti come il genocidio. La maggiora parte della produzione è stata fatta da Odadjian, che suona anche molti strumenti, inclusi il basso e il sitar".

Siamo curiosissimi di ascoltare il risultato di un progetto che si preannuncia interessantissimo.

Achozen is a project by System of a Down bassist Shavo Odadjian, Wu-Tang Clan member RZA, Killarmy member Kinetic 9, and Wu-Tang affiliate Reverend William Burke.

The band's debut album was said to be released in July of '08, but is now set to release in late 2008. The album will also feature funk musician George Clinton, Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante, Wu-Tang affiliate Killah Priest, Wu-Tang Clan member GZA, Sick Jacken of Psycho Realm, and Leggezin Fin.

Achozen's first song, "Deuces", was made public April 22. Coincidentally, that date is also band member Shavo Odadjian's birthday.

Achozen is currently managed by Velvet Hammer Music and Management Group along side System of a Down, Scars on Broadway, Taproot, Alice in Chains, Deftones, The Fall of Troy and Cypress Hill

SHAVO AND WU TANG RZA PROMOTE POSITIVITY WITH ACHOZEN
While System of a Down continue on their indefinite hiatus, each member of the band has an opportunity to concentrate on other musical endeavors and for bassist Shavo Odadjian that means his current project, Achozen. The project, which has been a few years in the making, forms the unlikely pairing of Odadjian and lyricist and vocalist RZA from The Wu Tang Clan. While Odadjian programs most of the beats and plays some guitar, bass, sitar and a few other eclectic instruments, RZA is left to concentrate on the lyrics along with Kinetic 9 and Reverend William Burke, who round out the lineup.

ARTISAN NEWS caught up with Shavo Odadjian to get his thoughts on Achozen's debut album being a Hip Hop concept album having a positive message.
